Cibigi Showcase: Product Tags

What are Product Tags?

Every product in Cibigi Showcase can be assigned one or more Product Tags. Product tags help organize your products, improve navigation, and provide a flexible way to associate products that share similar characteristics.

Unlike Product Categories, tags do not have a hierarchy. This means there are no parent or child tags (or “subtags”). Instead, tags are designed to identify common characteristics that may exist across multiple categories.

Example

Imagine you’re managing a fashion store in Cibigi Showcase.

You might organize your products into categories such as:

  • Men’s Clothing
  • Women’s Clothing
  • Children’s Clothing

Within those categories, you may also have subcategories such as:

  • Shirts
  • Pants
  • Jackets

To provide additional details about each product, you can use tags such as:

  • Cotton
  • Polyester
  • Eco-Friendly
  • Water-Resistant

This tagging strategy allows customers who are specifically looking for Cotton products, for example, to quickly view every cotton item across your entire Cibigi Showcase catalog, regardless of its category.

Using Product Tags improves the shopping experience by helping customers discover products that match their interests without having to browse through your entire catalog.

How to Add or Edit Product Tags

Product Tags can be managed in several places within Cibigi Showcase.

Method 1: Products > Tags

From the Products > Tags screen, you can create new tags and manage existing ones.

  1. Name – Enter the name of the Product Tag.
  2. Slug (Optional) – A URL-friendly version of the tag name. If left blank, one will be automatically generated.
  3. Description (Optional) – Some themes display this description, most commonly beneath the tag name on the tag’s landing page.

Method 2: Edit Product Screen

You can also add or create Product Tags while editing an individual product using the Product Tags section.

  1. Type the name of an existing tag.
    • Matching tags will appear for you to select.
    • After selecting the appropriate tags, choose Add to assign them to the product.
  2. To create a new tag, enter the new tag name and select the Add button.
  3. Alternatively, select Choose from the most used tags at the bottom of the Product Tags section.
    • This automatically displays the tags you use most frequently across your products.

Method 3: Bulk Edit Products

You can also add Product Tags to multiple products at once using the Bulk Edit feature from Products > All Products.

  • From the All Products screen, select the checkbox beside each product you want to update.
  • Open the Bulk Edit tool.
  • Locate the Product Tags field.
    • Type the name of an existing tag and select it.
    • Or enter a new tag name to create a new Product Tag.

Viewing Product Tags

After assigning Product Tags to your products, you can verify how they appear in Cibigi Showcase by:

  • Selecting the Product Tag from a product page to view all products using that tag.
  • Selecting View from the Products > Tags page to open the Product Tag landing page.
